Born on May 10, 1754, at St. Jurgen in Schleswig, Denmark, Asmus Jacob Carstens or Asmus Carstens was a Danish-German, ‘Neo-Classical’ painter and a draughtsman. At the age of twenty-two, in the year 1776, he started studying at the Copenhagen Academy. Here he made his first painting, “The Death of Aeschylus.” For further studies in Arts, in 1783, he moved to Italy, where the works of Giulio Romano intensely enchanted and influenced him. Danish-German Painter & Engraver, the Neo-Classical Way – Asmus Jacob Carstens (1754 – 1798) By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Annette_Labedzki]Annette Labedzki Born on May 10, 1754, at St. He wanted to visit Rome too, but short funds curtailed his journey to Mantua only. Eventually, the artist settled down at Lubeck, Germany, as a portrait painter. Asmus’ celebrated creation, “fall of the Angels,” features over 200 figures. This competent painting earned him the position of a professor at the reputed Berlin Academy, where he joined in 1788. The artist was famous and admired among his students, including Bertel Thorvaldsen and Joseph Anton Koch. His inspirations contributed largely to the ‘German Historical Paintings’ such as “Home Singing.” After his four years teaching stint at the Berlin Academy, Asmus quit, as he got an opportunity to travel to his dream destination, Rome. After a decade’s savings from his earnings and with some arranged financial help, the artist managed to go to Rome in 1792, where he stayed until his death. Here, he exhibited his work in 1795. His devotion towards his artistry and his ‘Neo-Classicism’ impressed several international artists of repute. To his delight, Carstens spent his last and most productive years of the eighteenth century in Rome. Dynamic brush strokes on well-outlined, classically elegant forms & structures, characterized Carstens’ ‘subject’ & ‘historical’ works. His pictures were usually inspired from Homer, Pindar, Sophocles, Aeschylus, Shakespeare, and Ossian. “Plato’s Symposium” and the “Battle of Rossbach” are his magnum opus. One of his finest pieces, “Megapont,” was measured-up against the creations of legendary artists like Raphael and Michelangelo. In 1795, a large solo exhibition of his works was held in Rome. Carstens also founded the School of German Historical Paintings. He died at a young age of forty-four on May 25, 1798, in Rome. Karl Ludwig Fernow, who had known Asmus Carstens since his childhood days, became close friends with him during their stay at Rome. Fernow has beautifully captured and documented the artist’s journey of life. Annette Labedzki received her BFA at the Emily Carr College of Art and Design in Vancouver, B.C. Canada. Kathe Kollwitz – German Expressionist, Graphic Artist, and Sculptor

Kathe Schmidt Kollwitz, Kathe Kollwitz, or Kathe Kollwitz, the famous German, ‘Expressionist’ painter, printmaker, and sculptor, was born in a wealthy family on July 08, 1867, in Kaliningrad, Russia. She was the fifth child of Karl and Katharina Schmidt. The ‘religious’ & the ‘socialist’ teachings of her maternal grandfather, Julius Rapp, and the early death of her brother, Benjamin, were the key influencers of Kollwitz initially.

Kathe Kollwitz – German Expressionist, Graphic Artist, and Sculptor By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Annette_Labedzki]Annette Labedzki Käthe Schmidt Kollwitz, Käthe Kollwitz, or Kathe Kollwitz, the famous German, ‘Expressionist’ painter, printmaker, and sculptor, was born in a wealthy family on July 08, 1867, in Kaliningrad, Russia. She was the fifth child of Karl and Katharina Schmidt. The ‘religious’ & the ‘socialist’ teachings of her maternal grandfather, Julius Rapp, and the early death of her brother, Benjamin, were the key influencers of Kollwitz initially. From a very early age of twelve years, she started learning drawing and copying plaster casts. She attended the Berlin School of Art in 1884. Here, she got to see the works of Max Klinger that inspired her to the core. In 1888, the artist joined the Woman’s Art School at Munich. Here she recognized her immense aptitude for ‘Graphic Art’ rather than painting. In 1891, Kollwitz married Karl, a philanthropist doctor, and settled in a large house, but in a poor locality of Berlin, to serve the bereft. The couple was blessed with two sons, Hans in 1892 & Peter in 1896. From 1898 to 1903, Kathe taught at the Berlin School of Women Artists. Her works depicted the plight of middle-class & less fortunate people around her. She recorded the struggling stories graphically through drawing, etching, lithography, and woodcuts. Kollwitz’s first major work, “The Weavers (1898),” a series of three lithographs (“Poverty,” “Conspiracy,” & “Death”) and three etchings (“March of the Weavers,” “Riot,” and “The End”), was inspired by the Gerhart Hauptmann’s play, “The Weavers.” She received a gold medal for it at Dresden, in 1899, followed by the one at London, in 1900. In 1904, she traveled extensively to Paris and Rome. In the meantime, Kathe’s works on social themes continued, as is evident in her series of woodcuts, “The Peasant War (1903-08).” While working on this series, the artist attended the sculpturing classes at Académie Julian, Paris, France. In 1907, she won a study prize to Florence, Italy, for her etching, “Outbreak,” from the series. After all the critical acclaim, Kollwitz returned to Germany and started teaching at the Berlin School of Arts. She also joined the group, ‘Berlin Secession.’ By this time, her style had moved towards ‘Expressionism’ from her earlier taste for ‘Naturalism,’ as in “Runover (1910)” and “Self-Portrait (1912).” Between 1908 and 1911, Kollwitz drew 14 drawings for a weekly magazine, ‘Simplicissimus.’ She started sculpturing in 1910. October 14, 1914, Kollwitz lost her son, Peter, in World War I. She made a woodcut, “Gedenkenblatt für Karl Liebknecht” during 1919-20. In 1920, the artist was honored with the first woman professorship at the Prussian Academy of Arts, Berlin. In 1922-23, the socialist, pacifist, communist, and a war depressed mom, Kathe, produced a series of woodcuts, “War,” which included “The Sacrifice,” “The Volunteers,” “The Parents,” “The Widow I,” “The Widow II,” “The Mothers,” and “The People.” In 1924, she also completed her three most famous posters, “Germany’s Children Starving,” “Bread,” and “Never Again War.” She did “Proletariat” in 1925. When National-Socialist regime came to power in 1933, they destroyed and confiscated most of Kathe’s works, labeling them as ‘degenerate art,’ while forcing her to resign from the academy. By mid-1930s, she finished her final set of lithographs, “Death.” To commemorate the sacrifice of all the young soldiers during war, she made a life-size figure, “The Grieving Parents (1932),” at Belgium. Kathe Kollwitz left Berlin in 1943, after the death of her ill husband in 1940, and that of her grandson, Peter, in 1942, during the World War II. Soon after her move, the same year, her house in Berlin was bombed, destroying most of her portfolios. Kollwitz initially moved to Nordhausen and then to Moritzburg, near Dresden. Here, she took refuge in the estate of Prince Ernst Heinrich of Saxony. Kollwitz died on April 22, 1945, in Moritzburg. She was cremated and buried in Berlin with her husband, brothers, and sisters. Today, Kathe Kollwitz is regarded as one of the most important graphic artists of the twentieth century. Annette Labedzki received her BFA at the Emily Carr College of Art and Design in Vancouver, B.C. Canada. She has more than 25 years experience. All-Time German National Football Team

Germany is the most consistent football-nation, almost always performing well in big tournaments. It’s not a coincidence that they have made it to the final of 13 major tournaments, winning 6 of them. Germany has been always known for having an efficient team relying on collective effort rather than individual brilliance, but it can’t be denied that they have produced some superb players too. It’s some task to make a team out of them.

All-Time German National Football Team By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Subhadeep_Roy]Subhadeep Roy Goalkeepers: Sepp Maier & Oliver Kahn are the 2 candidates for the job. I would pick Maier because he was a part of the all-conquering German & Bayern Munich team of the 1970s. Kahn would make it to the bench though. Defenders: Germany boasts of the greatest defender ever, Franz Beckenbauer, as their greatest player. Berti Vogts would play alongside him, complementing him perfectly. Vogts was one of the greatest man-markers in the history of the game. Andy Brehme would play as the right-back & Paul Breitner would play as the left-back. Both have been world cup winners & were great set-piece experts. Juergen Kohler would make the bench. Midfielders: The versatile & influential would cup winning captain Lothar Matthaus would play in the centre of the midfield leaving 2 flanks open for Gunter Netzer & Wolfgang Overath, both very creative players. Forwards: Fritz Walter, the 1954 World cup winning German captain would start as the forward playing behind the 2 strikers who would be Gerd Muller & Uwe Seeler. Walter playing in the hole would create opportunities for those two lethal marksmen both of whom had a wonderful goal-scoring record. Muller’s 68 goals for his national team in 62 matches was simply amazing. So, the team stands: ———————————–Maier——————————————— Brehme————–Vogts————Beckenbauer—————-Breitner Netzer————————-Matthaus—————————Overath ———————————–Walter———————————— ———————–Muller————Seeler—————————– The thing that stands out in this team is the versatility of the players. Beckenbauer could play in midfield, Matthaus could play as a central midfielder, holding midfielder, centre-back. Brehme could play in either flanks, Breitner played as a defensive midfielder & Vogts could play as a right-back. This flexibility would ensure fluidity in the game, as players could act as cover for their teammates. Beckenbauer & Matthaus could swap positions, Vogts could give cover to the overlapping Brehme, Seeler could play from behind to support Walter to provide Muller. Even Muller was known for his assists! Subs: 1. Kahn 2. Kohler 3. Littbarski 4. Rumenigge 5. Klinsmann Günstige Preise Shop

3 Key Benefits of Shopping Online By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Thaddeus_Johnson]Thaddeus Johnson If you happen to be a newbie in making purchases through the internet, discover 3 key benefits of shopping online. Shopping online is rapidly becoming the main avenue in which most transactions occur. More and more visitors are finding out how fantastic and rewarding it is in acquiring products and services from merchants online. Seasoned online shoppers understand the values of online purchasing and ultimately have made it their way to receive goods. What are the three key benefits? Time, Convenience and Money Time Online shopping allows for more time in your life for other activities. Depending on your routine in getting ready to venture to the brick and mortar stores, it could possibly take anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 ½ hours. Considering travel time, depending on traffic, may use 30 minutes to 1 hour of your quality moments. Once arrived at the destination, it will take a certain amount of time to look for the item/s. Let us not forget how long it will take to get back to the home or office. You can easily see how 2 to 4 hours will whisk by. Purchasing online takes only a few minutes. This can allow for more time with loved ones, your business, or for yourself. In today’s busy society, it is more important than ever to find ways to save time. Be sure to choose online shopping. Convenience When it comes to convenience, nothing comes closer than online shopping. You have access to 24 hours, 7 days a week of acquiring products all at your fingertips. From the comfort of your home, bed, living room, the patio, or by the poolside, you are able to shop at your leisure. Imagine the convenience for a family with young children. There is no need in getting yourself or the children dressed and ready to go, deal with traffic, and be confronted with pushy or inattentive clerks and hundreds of other shoppers. All of this and the amount of energy expended can have unfavorable consequences to one’s temperament. Money Probably the most important key benefit that you will find to be quite rewarding is money saved. Many merchants will have great deals and savings sometimes up to 80% on selected items. Merchants may offer other generous savings through coupons, special offers and discounted items. Another wonderful incentive is shipping cost. Some will absorb the shipping cost for free after a certain amount of purchase (each merchant’s guidelines will vary). Additionally, you will increase your savings by not using gas for transportation to the brick and mortar store. It is not surprising that online sales are increasing each year. Shoppers desire all of the benefits that will help make their lives much easier.
